Newcomers to the forex market rarely go straight for an online broker. They don't know what they want yet. Most of them are just looking for the "why" and "how" of things. That's why the main goal of a content funnel for this audience is to serve as a guide. A logical sequence that gradually educates and only then presents a solution.

It’s a three-step funnel, focused on educating traders and then inviting them to evaluate forex brokers for themselves.

I created this project to demonstrate in practice how I develop my work (from planning to delivery), but it could be used anywhere else besides this website. Just by adjusting it to the most relevant keywords within a specific strategy.

Project Overview

Let’s begin by understanding the context I set before writing those articles.

Industry

Forex market and retail trading

Content type

Educational blog funnel

Writing tone

Neutral and analytical

Point of view

Independent specialist

Languages

American English and Brazilian Portuguese

Number of items

3 long-form articles per language

I used this table to determine the most relevant queries for different search intents. Then I pasted these into the AnswerThePublic tool and grabbed the best keywords. As a result, the titles I came up with were:

I won’t dig much into the keyword research phase here, as it's not part of a full SEO strategy with real market conditions. This is a demonstration only.

Text on a white background: "FOREX BASICS ➔ BROKER SELECTION ➔ OANDA REVIEW" in bold, black font with arrows between phrases.

Most important is the progressive structure. Let's think of it as a guided journey.

The Challenge

Regulated brands like forex brokers always face credibility problems. Especially due to fraudulent competitors and the huge number of partners looking for profit at all cost.

This made promises of fast results become a red flag immediately.

My content presents complex financial concepts in simple language, but with no exaggerated claims. It’s a way to bypass that problem.

Strategic Decisions

After analyzing all we got so far, I came up with the solution:

1. Educating before promoting (TOFU)

The first article is dedicated exclusively to explaining how this market works. The idea here is to build credibility through straightforward information.

2. Establishing evaluation criteria (MOFU)

Time to give out some tips and tools so that the readers understand what matters the most in order to get started safely. A broader list of brokers may appear on this step.

3. Introducing the broker in detail (BOFU)

It throws light on the most common questions about the OANDA broker. What are the pros and cons, real costs for trading, how to get started, etc.

This way I build trust through reliable content and present some services right after.

Location Strategy

Since I'm Brazilian and also write in Portuguese, I added a localization step. So I developed a main draft for every article and only then adapted it to each language. Check out below how these 2 different versions look side by side!

Text discussing forex regulation in the U.S. by CFTC and NFA, and in Brazil by CVM and BCB. Red text overlay says "open-us" and "pt-BR".

Besides pure translation, I used the most common financial words for each of these GEOs and also the local legislation (they are way different) on forex. This is how I managed to ensure that both versions maintain structure without sacrificing linguistics.

Expected Results

Although this is a project designed for my portfolio, its structure has what’s necessary to achieve measurable performance goals. These results would definitely include:

  • Long-term visibility in search engines; it’s evergreen content.

  • Engagement through a consistent and friendly learning structure.

  • Credibility built around my responsible language.

A nice fun fact about content structured this way is that it can also show up as a reference for AI answers. This means more users getting access to your website.

Conclusion

Funnels in regulated sectors must combine education and credibility with a conversion-oriented structure. That's what we've seen so far: an environment that invites the reader to explore new possibilities. Encouraging rational decisions and avoiding aggressive promotion is key!
